It's been a rather grey winter. Lots of fog. Lots of clouds.
It isn't the sort of winter I'm used to seeing in Texas. We've had record lows but no snow or rain, hardly. It's just dreary. As if a dementor were waiting around the corner to suck out my soul until Harry Potter's stag comes to save me. And to bring the sunshine! And maybe some moisture. I could take a bath in lotion and need another one an hour later.
I spent most of the day on my computer. Mom and I went to Panera Bread to get some work done, then I went to babysit for the evening. Actually, a pretty productive day.
It's 1:30 AM right now. I've stayed up late enough for my body to think that it needs another meal. I'm getting a food headache and my stomach is growling so I should just go to sleep, but all I want to do is read. I've been looking forward to reading all day and it's what I want to do. But I'm afraid if I do I'll read right on until breakfast time because I don't have self-control over that sort of thing.
I know this is the sort of dilema that keeps you all on the edge of my seat, so I'll try to resolve it for you tomorrow.

I took this photo with my iPhone. And I didn't edit it one bit. Isn't it amazing? The picture, yeah, but the fact that this sky existed tonight? New York deprived me of so many pretty skies and I just can't get enough of them here.
But I still miss New York. I wish I could just hate or love places instead of hate AND love places. Everywhere I go, there is something to hate about it and something to love about it. All this multi-faceted stuff drives me crazy sometimes.
But it's nothing a car ride at sunset with you friends and "Sweet Disposition" blaring from the speakers can't cure.

If your car says it's 104 degrees outside, best not to leave your chap stick inside of it.
Lesson learned.

You should know that I DID take a few pictures today. But I can't show you yet and you'll understand why tomorrow. So I'm not cheating, just circumventing.
I took these pictures yesterday, but I thought it'd be worthwhile to post them now that I'm home with my computer.
After some insane work, my mom and I sewed 22 aprons between us. We started out a bit outside of the Peach Festival. You have to pay to have a booth in there, but a friend of a friend let us set up and catch traffic going in and out at this cute little place:
We had some people come by, but traffic was a little slow. So my dad scoped out the inside, made a few calls, asked a few bold questions, and a few hours later we found ourselves set up inside the Peach Festival:
I'd like to thank Alison for pointing out the sign over our heads. That made my day! I'll believe it!
But honestly? Business was slow. Not just for us. For all of the vendors. People in this town are more...perusers. Although, they did enjoy peach ice cream and fried-whatever-I-can-get all day. But I don't blame them. Gotta eat...don't necessarily gotta cook. Or wear a t-shirt.
I sold five aprons...3 to her:
My Mimi. She's awesome and I love her.
We also got a good amount of donations and money from selling bottled water.
In the end, we walked out with about $235 a piece. I'm not complaining because I can just post these babies on my website and sell them to my amazing friends! And Amy isn't complaining because she made more money selling her t-shirts after church today than she did for six hours yesterday, weathering the heat and the rain.
But we did receive a lot of encouragement yesterday. And we got to share our hearts with plenty of people. All in all I'd call that a great success.
If you'd like a shirt for $20, e-mail me! (brittanyrosewhite@gmail.com)
If you'd like an apron, look for a site update soon.

I woke up and basically sewed all day. I didn't change out of my pajamas and my hair was two days old. Okay. My body was two days old, too. Ugh.
And then! I went running and got reeeeal gross! But after that, I took a shower. And sometimes showers are just insanely awesome. And then we got snocones and I stuck my head out the window the whole time to air dry my heavy mane. That felt great. I took my shoes off and put them on the dash. Sorry if you don't like feet.
But I have great feet. Runs in the family.
Welp...see ya later!

I love this day! Independence Day is the best. I blame Sandlot for making me love Independence Day. And whoever decided that Ray Charles should sing "America, The Beautiful" is a genius.
Get ready for some pictures because I took a lot.
I teased my hair for church. What's up y'all, I'm from Texas!!
(I put it in a ponytail.)
After church I ran home and cleaned my room, ate some lunch, put on some shorts, and drove to meet some fam for Toy Story 3. But they were sold out. But Chelsea and I decided to buy tickets to Eclipse and sneak in to Toy Story 3. We thought that was funny.
Anyone else just to want be alone and cry for an hour after that movie? It makes me happy to still have my Babysitter's Club Books and Hanson posters up in the attic. My equivalent of Woody and Buzz.
After the movie, the party started.
Keane, his blue eyes, and Mimi.
Chelsea, Lauren, and Amber in the back there. Hangin' at the chip/fruit bar.
We are nothing if not patriotic!
Momma really knows how to shape a patty.
We took about ten of these and the chances of all of us looking at the camera...well, there are no chances.
Jonah is a straight up champ at bubbles.
Awesome! His shirt says "Closed for the season" over a picture of a brain. I asked him what it meant and he said..."Smart."
Joel, Jonah, Uncle Robert/Poppy - climbing the fence to check out the pool wreckage that exploded down the yard.
Maybe not the saftest thing? But cute! I love your matching outfits!
Our pool pump was waaaaay down there.
I bought Gracey a dress. It's mainly for laughs, not because I think dog's should wear clothes. It's funny! And I accidentally convinced Kasey it was her dress. She kept asking everyone why the dog was wearing her clothes.
This was when Papa asked us to sing a patriotic song before dinner.
YES! That cookie has a marshmallow inside of it. My Aunt Mary Alice is amazing.
Yeah, you are!
Black and Red and Blue stripes. Almost super flaggy.
We just needed a star! For eighteen years Rachel was the youngest cousin. Now it's Keane. Crazy, huh?
Oh babyyyyyyy, I love you.
Like a bird on a wire.
Gracey basically freaked out when the fireworks started. She buried her face in my arm pit and wouldn't leave my lap.
What are we going to DO without each other for three months?!
Cuties.
Keane's first fireworks!
I suppose I should share some fireworks photos:
Bam!
Bam! Bam!
And then we all blew up.
Then we came back to life and played Mario Party, and we still are playing Mario Party, and Lauren is INSANE when she plays this game.
It's a little strange that last year I spent this day in Central Park and ended it eating Brooklyn pizza on a pier in Red Hook, watching 10 different fireworks displays with Lady Liberty and an amazing sunset as a backdrop. And it was a normal day.
Guess you never can tell what a difference a year makes.
Unless, of course, you blog about it every day...
Happy 4th, ya'll!

First, frozen yogurt at Yogurtland FLOORED me today. Yikes, new addiction.
Second...

Today Lauren, me and Amy held a car wash to raise money for our trips to Africa.
It was hot. 100 degrees. And we were outside for six hours. We. are. exhausted. You know it's harder to hold signs up and smile on and on than it is to actually wash a car? It is. It really, really is...
But I have nothing to complain about because we had a goal to make. We decided a total of $300 would make it worth it for us. That's $100 a piece. You know that.
Well, we washed about 16 cars.
And we made $604. That's $201.something a piece.
You know that, too.
God was so good to us! He doubled our portion! How we made that much money from 16 cars, we'll never know!
But a part of it is due to our families and friends. My parents were out there ALL DAY. Lauren said driving over, "We have the best parents. We said we wanted to do this and they didn't even question. They just said, 'okay' and we went for it."
It's true. They worked just as hard as we did and they bought us Subway for lunch. And they brought cold waters. I drank five bottles of water and didn't pee. Isn't that a little crazy?
And our aunts, uncles, cousins, siblings, friends, friends-of-friends, co-workers of friends, etc. Stopped by. Some helped, some donated, some did both. THANK YOU!
After the car wash we washed ourselves up at Mimi and Papa's then went to our friend, Caitlin's, lingerie shower. Where we had some rum spiked with strawberries and lime juice.
Is that backwards? I'm just a little tired it seems.....
Don't we clean up well?
And speaking of clean up well, sorta, I'd like to go full disclosure and post yesterday's intended picture. I can't believe I'm going to do this.
Thank you, Jillian Michaels. That is a lot of sweat and frizz.
And that's it, folks.

It's been awhile since I've been to a show. I really know nothing about the Dallas music scene...is there one?
It's a little less like New York (always starts on time) and a little more like Nashville (starts and hour and a half later). That's what I've gathered so far.
I actually know very little about Dallas in general. Fort Worth is where it's at! But I'm open to learning more.
Tonight I went with Lauren and saw ColorFire: http://www.myspace.com/colorfiremusic
Belmont band! Gotta support! That's Aaron up there drumming. He was amazing! He's Lauren's high school friend and now he goes to my alma matar. Pretty neat.
I know how badly you want me to expand, but I'm running in about six hours and really should rest up. But check out the band!

Helloooo summer.
Have I said that already on my blog? If I have, I'll probably say it again. Everything is the beginning of summer right now.
Besides the unbearable heat, it's completely lovely!

It took me so long to type the New York round-up post this morning that I almost forgot to blog today's photo.
I also put the NY pictures on facebook, which I haven't been doing much of. I have way too many albums on facebook and this blog sort of distracts me from uploading more. Sometimes that's good, I guess.
Anyway, today happened. After I babysat, I drove to Whole Foods in Arlington that I did not know existed! And it's 10 minutes from my house and that's a lot closer than my beloved Central Market. I am so happy about this. I picked up some oat flour, quinoa, and almond butter by the pound to celebrate.
I resisted the coffee. Too much money spent on iced coffees in the past week.
Okay, someone settle this for me. Is it "past" or "passed"? I never know. So normally I just use "last," but I think it's time I learned.
I drove home from Whole Foods the "back way," which is always really pretty when the trees aren't dead. I love this part where they cover the road like a tunnel. It makes me feel like I'm not about to drive into a big housing division.
Speaking of driving, tomorrow my parents and I are driving to OSU to pick up Lauren from college. She's home for the summer and I'm home for the summer. She told me she can't wait to babysit, lay out, and work out with me every day. At least I can do all that and I don't look too old for it, otherwise, how embarrassing!!!!!! Someone said to me today, "you must not have graduated from high school long ago." High school?!
In that case...SENIOR SUMMER 2010 BABY!!
